Equipment:
PERSONALITY:
Likes:
+ Being Batgirl. Originally, she donned the outfit as Spoiler to bring a stop her father, but Steph has grown to enjoy what she does and is devoted to her work as Batgirl.
+ Sports. Sports are a big thing for Steph - she keeps her agility up in many ways, and is extremely proficient with several.
+ Her mother. Steph and her mom don't always see eye-to-eye, and never have but have bonded since her father's return to Blackgate.
+ A good, strong uppercut... or any other punch to the face. Very personal - very effective.
+ Waffles. What solves all problems? Waffles. According to Steph anyway.
+ Fluffy t-shirts. Sometimes Steph prefers to sit around and just chill in loose fitting clothes and do nothing. But hardly for long!
+ Gotham. Despite how horrific and appalling Gotham can be, it's home for Steph, and she loves it all the same.
+ Batman. Of course Steph likes both Batman - she likes Bruce's morals, his logic, and, most of all, what he stands for. He saved her from her own father. She likes Dick because he gave her a chance, and even though he still treated her fairly harshly at times, was always there for her.
+ Guys. Steph is a bit over friendly and forward when it comes to males. However, they often cause her trouble, (i.e, her ex, Dean).
+ Coffee. Steph likes to wake up in the morning with a good strong cup of caffeine. With extra shots, please!
+ Children. Steph loves little children, and was horrified and upset to give up her baby... but she did what she had to.
+ Parties. Although much less of a party girl now, Steph's prone to going out and, perhaps, over indulging.
+ Music. Steph is a big fan of music, she is an accomplished pianist, but gave up when she was younger. She still loves it deeply, however.
+ Eggplant. Not purple. Eggplant.
Dislikes:
- Her father. He is otherwise known as Cluemaster, a man Steph deeply despised and once almost killed.
- Being left out of things. Steph likes to be working, and easily grows restless when she's not involved.
- Student life. This includes everything - the whole social aspect (Stephanie isn't too fond of her chronically idiotic friends) and homework. It gets in the way of patrol.
- Being told what to do. Steph is prone to defy orders from anyone, including strict instructions from those above her, i.e, Batman.
- Distractions. Steph dislikes anything that will remove her concentration from what is at hand.
- Her past. Cliche, but Steph dislikes thinking about the mistakes her father made, and the mistakes she had made in her past, though she uses them to better herself.
- Staying in. Steph is always on the move, and though sometimes she tries to take it easy, she finds it hard to slow down.
- Sleep. Sleep? What is that? Sleep is for the weak... or for people who don't have better things to be doing...
- Disorganisation. Steph dislikes mess and prefers to make plans, often using sticky notes.
- Being treated like a child. Yes, Steph is still young, but she is generally far more mature than girls her age, and despises being treated like she's invalid.
Personality: (At least a solid paragraph.)
HISTORY:
Police record: Steph's police record is clean... well, technically it is, but she's broken many a law in her time.
Parents names and status: Crystal Brown, mother, nurse, alive. Arthur Brown, father, criminal, apparently deceased.
Siblings: N/A.
History:
Steph was born in Gotham city to Crystal Brown, a nurse and drug addict, and Arthur Brown, a criminal otherwise known as The Cluemaster. Her father was a small time criminal, but began to move up to bigger stuff, usually in and out of Blackgate Prison, playing little part in Steph's life as she grew up. This had a massive affect on Steph's life and personality, and her father defined her in many ways. His lack of presence in her life caused her to resent him deeply. Steph is an only child, a result of her father's constant mistreatment, and she is glad to be a lone child, if not lonely at times.
Steph's unstable personality began when she was young, her father playing a large role, as well as her experiences. As a child Steph's babysitter, a friend of her father's, attempted to rape her. He was unsuccessful, and Steph found the courage to tell her father about what had happened. Just over a week later, her father's friend died of an apparent overdose. At the time, Steph thought nothing of it, but looks back now wondering if her father killed him for what he tried to do. Steph's outlook on males has changed dramatically, and is now extremely wary.
Steph's fathers criminal activities were constantly foiled by Batman, and this, along with her father's imprisonment, leading Steph to deeply admire him and what he stands for. Eventually this admiration grows into Steph becoming Spoiler, unable to stand aside and watch her father, who, by now, she deeply despises. It is also, as a child, that Steph begins training in gymnastics, and was on her school squad - she's also an accomplished pianist.
Her father was released from Blackgate, claiming to be completely rehabilitated - however, Steph soon discovers that her father has returned to crime, but has become a killer and is planning a bank heist. Her father, however, was known for leaving clues behind, but has been cured of his compulsion, leaving his crimes ambiguous. It's this that causes Steph to don her homemade Spoiler outfit, naming herself after her attempts to 'Spoil' her fathers plans. It is during a police raid on her father's apartment that Robin spots her on the rooftops, and Steph rashly smashes his face with a brick as he removes her mask and learns her identity.
Stephanie is tracked down by Batman, and forms a plan to bring down Cluemaster. Stephanie is told she is unable to come, as Batman believes she is motivated by anger and revenge, and correctly believes Steph wishes to kill her father. However, Steph intercepts her father's heist regardless and is held hostage by him in her Spoiler outfit. Her father holds a vial of acid to her face, but is shocked by Batman's revelations that Spoiler is his daughter. Steph used this momentary surprise to attempt to strangle her father with a chain. Steph intends to kill him, claiming that he destroyed her life. However, Batman rightly points out that if she does kill her father, then she will be to blame for destroying her life, and not him. She reluctantly drops the chain and allows her father to be arrested and returned to Blackgate. Steph has a great respect for what Batman did for her that day, and continues to believe in his morals about never killing, knowing it would destroy her and lead her down a path of no return. However, Steph has began to realise that, in his own disgusting way, her father cares deeply for her despite his absence in her life.
Steph resigns herself to only putting on her Spoiler costume when her father is released from prison, in order to foil his crimes. However, she begins to see wider and further than just her father, and begins to enjoy being Spoiler. Steph is determined that no child should ever have to suffer with the knowledge of what their father has done, nobody should go without hope or without happiness. Thus, she begins to patrol Gotham; this causes her social life to diminish, but nothing could prepare Steph for what was to come...
Steph finds herself pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby. Her ex, Dean, has already split town after an earthquake. She is shocked by the revelation, and is torn by her options. However, grows angry when she believes Tim is implying she aborts the child, refusing the idea point blank. She quickly accepts her new responsibility and decides she will keep the baby, and it allows her a new, mature perspective on life. It's during this time Steph falls out with her friends at school, who find it 'cool' that she's having a baby. Steph is angered and frustrated by their approach to her pregnancy.
Steph finds much help during her pregnancy, though is deeply upset is causes her to hang up her Spoiler outfit for a while. However, Steph finds this time to briefly bond with her mother, who begins to help her with arrangements for adoption. Her mother reinforces her belief that mistakes have to be made to path the way for future success and understanding.
Steph dreams that she has given birth to her baby and is her garden with her, but during her dream her father steals her child away. Steph later gives birth to a completely healthy baby girl, but refuses to see her or even learn of her gender, and instead agrees to put the baby up for adoption. Steph couldn't consider herself a mother at such a young age, and is determined to give her daughter the best start in life, thus adoption becomes her only option. She is desperate for her child to grow up within a stable family, with a father present, and doesn't want to resign the child to the life that she led. Steph is all to aware of what the impact of growing up without her father caused. Upon Deans return to Gotham, asking Steph to get back together with him, Steph promptly, and rather rashly, beats him up. After this, Steph returned to patrolling as Spoiler. When Robin went missing to Tibet on a mission, Batman approached Stephanie, offering to train her. He told her Robin's real identity as Tim Drake. She trains briefly with Batman, only to be told she isn't 'crime fighting material' and is told to hang up her costume. However, Steph continues to patrol as Spoiler and, occasionally, dates Tim. It is around this time that Steph comes to believe her father has been killed.
When Tim's father discovers he is Robin Stephanie briefly takes up the Robin mantle, though after months of training and patrolling, she is eventually fired by Batman, who deems her unsuitable to replace Tim and considers her a liability after she disobeys orders. Steph then steals his plans to take down Gotham's gangs, attempting to win back his approval, she is captured and tortured, supposedly to death, by the Black Mask. She is taken by Leslie Thompson to live in Africa, where she assumes a vigilante lifestyle protecting a village as she recovers. She eventually returns to Gotham in her Spoiler position and continues to patrol. Tim and her break off their relationship, and after Cassandra Cain hands her the Batgirl costume, Steph takes up the mantle of Batgirl, under the mentor of Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl, now Oracle. She has since worked with Supergirl, the new Batman and Robin duo and Red Robin (Tim), but continues to operate under Oracle's mentoring.
